Project Anonymous Artist was built on one conviction —
that great work should be seen for what it is, not who made it.
01 — Origin
Where the idea
was born.
It started with a question: what would happen if you removed the name from a painting?
Not just the signature — but the biography, the Instagram following, the gallery
representation, the country of origin.
Would the same work be seen differently? Would a collector buy it if they didn’t know it
was made by someone famous? Would they overlook it if it came from someone unknown?
We believed — and still believe — the answer is yes. And that’s the problem this project
exists to solve.

Art before identity
Behind every piece is someone who chose to say something true. Whether they ever say their name is their choice. What it makes you feel is yours. The work enters the room before the artist does. We create the conditions for that to happen; every submission, every curation, every collection.

Anonymity is a right, not a gimmick
We don’t use anonymity as a marketing device. We treat it as a genuine structural principle, one that changes how art is received, valued, and remembered.

The reveal belongs to the artist
Behind every piece is someone who chose to say something true. Whether they ever say their name is their choice. What it makes you feel is yours. We never push, pressure, or reveal without consent. Identity, once given, cannot be taken back. That power stays with the artist, always.

Accessibility without compromise
Anonymous Artist is open to all levels, all mediums, all countries. The only filter is the quality of the work — judged by people who don’t know who made it.

All submissions are reviewed by an independent rotating panel
of curators, collectors, and critics — none of whom know the
identity of any submitting artist.
Privacy & Trust
Encrypted & Secure
Artist identities are stored in an encrypted system accessible
only through a verified reveal request. No team member has
casual access to submission identity data.
Two artists, one shared space.
The work is anonymous. We are not. We are Aria and Maria, two artists living and working in London, and we started this project because we believe in the connection between people and art.
The artists behind it.
Aria
Aria is an abstract painter working in acrylic on canvas. Born in Albania and based in London, she trained at the Art Academy London, and her work is shown on Saatchi Art. Her paintings work through colour and layered surface rather than image, and she often paints in constrained series, including a seven-day series and a collaborative series made with a child.
Alongside painting she built a career in brand and marketing, at SEMrush in Prague, Global University Systems and Medicspot, and co-founded The Healthify. That experience is how PAA came to be built as much as imagined. She leads its strategy, brand and partnerships.
Maria
Maria is a Greek mixed-media artist working in textiles. Through weaving, tufting and embroidery she explores gender, identity and the female experience, using the slow, repeated language of thread to hold ideas that are anything but quiet.
She studied at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Goldsmiths and the Royal College of Art, and has exhibited in London, Athens and Thessaloniki. She knows the Greek islands, their language and their makers, and leads our art experiences on the ground. Together we are also building an art company in London.
What art is for us.
Art brings everything into the present. You cannot make it unless you are fully here. A memory, a feeling, a thought that will not leave you alone: you put it on the canvas and it stays there. It becomes a moment held in time, and making it is how I heal.Aria
My work is made from what I have lived. Every thread holds something I have experienced, questioned or stood up for, as a woman. Weaving is how I say it out loud, and it is how I heal.Maria
For both of us, art is a way of being present, and a way of healing.
From an online gallery to rooms you can walk into.
We want to take the same idea into physical spaces, into new places, and into a community of artists who have been through it together.

Open calls, anonymous exhibitions and six-month reveals, with each edition shared across our channels.
NowArt experiences in Santorini
Seven days for no more than twelve guests: daily studio practice, morning yoga and sound healing, and an anonymous exhibition of the week's work to close. May and September.
NextA London studio
A shared studio and showroom in London where we make our own work, host artists and run events, as part of the art company we are building together.
BuildingAnonymous exhibitions in person
Physical shows in London and beyond, with the reveal as a live moment, and a circle of exhibited artists who hear first about every new edition.
